Women's Basketball Begins Season 2-0

The Anoka-Ramsey Women's Basketball team hosted their annual November Classic last weekend and came away with two big victories.

On Friday afternoon the Golden Rams beat Gogebic 98-43 behind 25 points from Demaiyah Hill.  Hill shot 9 of 13 from the field and made 7 of 8 free throws.

Seven Golden Ram player scored in double digits with LaTayla Pemberton scoring 14, and 11 points apiece from Mikayla Kanenwisher, Hailey Babcock, Piper Flemming, and Lachantice BaggettCeCe Bell scored ten.

Anoka-Ramsey shot 44.7 percent overall and made 22 of 26 free throws.

The Golden Rams forced 25 Gogebic turnovers and held the Samsons to 26.7 percent shooting.

On Saturday the Golden Rams again used stifling defense to beat Madison 80-57.

Anoka-Ramsey forced 36 turnovers while committing just 13 themselves.  The turnover disparity, along with 28 offensive rebounds, helped the Golden Rams attempt 95 shots to just 55 for Madison.

Five Golden Rams scored in double figures, paced by Hill with 18 points on 7 of 16 shooting.  Kanenwisher had 15 points and 11 rebounds, along with five steals.

Baggett scored 14 points, Bell chipped in 12 points, and Babcock scored ten.

Anoka-Ramsey will travel to La Crosse, WI to face the Viterbo JV on Wednesday, November 17.
