Women's Basketball Advances to Championship Game

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball team advanced to the Region XIIIA championship game by defeating Minnesota West 104-66 on Saturday evening.

The Golden Rams got 26 points from Rashonna Thomas on 6 of 10 shooting from the three-point line.

Daron Mainville scored 20 points to go with 16 rebounds.

Anoka-Ramsey opened up a 9-5 lead after a layup from Za'Keea Sa'eed-El and extended the lead to 28-11 following a three from Thomas.

Minnesota West pulled with 12 points at 34-22 with 6:32 left in the second quarter but the Golden Rams used a 13-5 run to take a 47-27 lead after a Chaniya Rogers layup.

The Golden Rams led 55-33 at halftime.

Anoka-Ramsey kept the pressure on in the third quarter, taking a 65-36 lead after a Rogers three-pointer.

The lead reached as many as 47 points.

Lexus Hughes chipped in 12 points as did Eryn Eilertson.

Kieara Hunter pulled in 14 rebounds.

The Golden Rams shot 49.4 percent from the field and held Minnesota West to just 30 percent.

Anoka-Ramsey will face Rochester at 5:00pm on Sunday in the Region XIIIA Championship game.
