Women's Basketball Clinches #1 Seed

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball team defeated Ridgewater College 112-60 on Saturday afternoon to clinch the #1 seed in the Region XIIIA Tournament February 27-28.

The Golden Rams still have one regular season game left when they host Western Tech on Wednesday, February 17 at 6:00pm.

Regardless of the outcome of that game, Anoka-Ramsey will host the four-team Region tournament the following weekend with a chance to earn a berth in the NJCAA Division III National Tournament.  Game times will be announced next week.

The Golden Rams never trailed in Saturday's win.

After leading 30-25 with 6:12 left in the second period, Anoka-Ramsey went on a 13-0 run to build a 43-25 lead and went into halftime ahead 52-28.

Anoka-Ramsey's full-court pressure forced 15 Ridgewater turnovers in the half.

A 10-0 to open the third period officially put the game out of reach as the lead balooned to 34 points.

The Golden Rams recorded 19 steals in forcing 33 turnovers for the game.

Anoka-Ramsey was red hot from the three-point line as well knocking down a season-high 16 three-pointers.

Lexus Hughes scored 21 points on 8 of 11 shooting.

Rashonna Thomas scored 20 points making 5 of 9 shots from beyond the arc.

Chaniya Rogers scored 13 points.

Makayla Paggen and Za'Keea Sa'eed-El each scored 11 points, and Kieara Hunter chipped in ten points.

Daron Mainville pulled in 11 rebounds to go with nine points.

Anoka-Ramsey improves to 18-6 overall.
