Six in Double Figures as Golden Rams Rout MN West

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball team used a balance attack offensively, and stifling defense, to rout Minnesota West 85-44 on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Rams trailed 9-8 with seven minutes left in the first quarter but outscored the Lady Jays 22-5 the rest of the period to take a 30-14 lead into the second quarter.

Anoka-Ramsey ramped up their play on both ends of the floor in the second quarter scoring the first nine points to take a 39-14 lead.

A three-pointer from Rashonna Thomas gave Anoka-Ramsey a 46-16 lead with 5:44 left in the first half and the Golden Rams would hold Minnesota West to just seven points in the period to take a 57-21 lead into halftime.

Anoka-Ramsey shot 57.1 percent in the first quarter, and 64.7 percent in the second quarter.

The Golden Rams proved to be even more effective in the third quarter, holding Minnesota West without a single point for the first eight minutes in building a 73-21 lead.

The Lady Jays managed just 20 percent shooting in the third period and committed ten turnovers.

Anoka-Ramsey finished the game shooting 49.3 percent and held Minnesota West to 30.8 percent while forcing 22 Lady Jays turnovers.

Six Golden Rams reached double figures scoring led by Za'Keea Sa'eed-El with 18 points on 7 of 11 shooting to go with eight assists and six rebounds.

Daron Mainville scored 17 points making 8 of 12 field goals.

Eryn Eilertson scored 14 points making 4 of 5 three-pointers while pulling in eight rebounds.

Thomas finished with 13 points and Chaniya Rogers and Lexus Hughes each chipped in ten points.

The Golden Rams improve to 16-6 overall, 6-1 in the MCAC Southern Division.

They'll face co-Southern Division leader Rochester Community and Technical College on Wednesday, February 10 at 6:00pm in Rochester.
