The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball team defeated Ridgewater College 80-53 on Wednesday evening to stay perfect in the MCAC Southern Division with a 4-0 league record.
The Golden Rams started out slow with the score tied 6-6 four minutes into the game.
A 9-1 run by Anoka-Ramsey opened up a 15-7 lead with three minutes to play in the period with the lead staying at eight points 20-12 following a Makayla Paggen three-pointer.
Ridgewater would score the last four points of the opening period to trail 20-16 at the end of the first.
A three-point play from Za'Keea Sa'eed-El to open the second quarter pushed the lead to 23-16.
Stifling defense from Anoka-Ramsey held Ridgewater to just seven points in the second quarter as the Golden Rams opened up a 36-21 lead and led 39-23 at halftime.
Rashonna Thomas knocked down a three-pointer and Daron Mainville added a field goal to push the lead to 44-23 early in the third quarter.
A 6-0 Ridgewater run pulled the Warriors within 46-34 with 2:43 left in the period, but another Thomas three-pointer and a field goal from Kieara Hunter pushed the lead back to 17 at the end of the period.
The Golden Rams would continue their offensive onslaught in the final period, taking a 72-43 lead with 5:11 to play and the Warriors wouldn't threaten again.
Anoka-Ramsey finished the game shooting 46.9 percent and holding Ridgewater to just 29.9 percent.
The Golden Rams connected on 14 of 34 shots from beyond the arc.
Sa'eed-El led all scorers with 19 points on 7 of 9 shooting including 3 of 4 from the three-point line.
Paggen scored 15 points knocking down five threes.
Thomas scored 13 points and Mainville chipped in with 12.
The Golden Rams improve to 13-5 overall, 4-0 in MCAC.
