The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball team opened MCAC Southern Division play with a convincing win over M|State Fergus Falls 80-48.
The Golden Rams jumped out to a 12-2 lead early in the first quarter after a three-pointer from Rashonna Thomas.
Two free throws from Za'Keea Sa'eed-El and another three-pointer from Thomas opened the lead to 19-5, and a three-point play by Sa'eed-El finished the quarter with the Golden Rams ahead 22-5.
Fergus Falls made just one field goal in the opening period with the Golden Rams knocking down 7 of their 13 field goal attempts.
The lead balooned to 32-9 with 4:08 to play in the second quarter.
Fergus Falls used a seven point spurt to pull within 32-16, but a three-pointer from Makayla Paggen pushed the lead back up to 19 and the Golden Rams led 37-20 at halftime.
Another Anoka-Ramsey three-pointer, this time from Chaniya Rogers, pushed the lead to 46-25 with 7:52 left in the third period.
The Spartans would pull within 50-37, but a Daron Mainville with 27 seconds to play would give Anoka-Ramsey a 52-37 lead to start the fourth quarter.
The final period was all Anoka-Ramsey as Golden Rams shot 11 of 19 from the field, and held Fergus Falls to just 5 of 15 in outscoring the Spartans 28-11 to pull out the 32 point win.
Anoka-Ramsey finished the game shooting 39.1 percent including 12 of 34 from the three-point line.
The Golden Rams recorded 18 assists on their 27 made field goals.
Thomas finished with a game-high 25 points making 4 of 7 from beyond the arc.
Paggen finished with 18 points knocking down six threes.
Mainville finished with ten points and nine rebounds.
Sa'eed-El scored nine points and dished out eight assists.
The Golden Rams improve to 11-5 overall (1-0 MCAC) and will host St. Cloud Tech on Saturday at 1:00pm.
