Northland Outlasts Golden Rams

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball team fell to #5 Northland Community and Technical College 84-69 on Saturday afternoon in Thief River Falls, MN.

The teams battled back and forth throughout the first half with neither team able to seize control for much of the first 20 minutes.

Northland lead 8-3 early in the first quarter, but five straight points from Za'Keea Sa'eed-El knotted the score at 8 apiece with five minutes to play.

The Golden Rams took a 10-9 lead after two free throws from Sa'eed-El before Northland used a 6-0 spurt to take a 15-10 lead.

The Pioneers extended the lead to seven at the end of the first quarter.

Anoka-Ramsey fought back in the second period using a 8-0 run to take a 24-23 lead.

Northland would respond with the next five points and close the rest of the second quarter on a 17-6 run to lead 40-30 at halftime.

The Pioneers kept the Golden Rams at bay throughout the second half, with Anoka-Ramsey getting no closer than eight points the rest of the game.

Sa'eed-El lead the scoring with 22 points on 7 of 13 shooting.

Rashonna Thomas scored 15 points making 7 of 10 free throws.

Daron Mainville recorded her second straight double-double, and third of the season, with 12 points and ten rebounds.

The Golden Rams fall to 7-4 overall and will host the ARCC Classic this Friday and Saturday.

Anoka-Ramsey will play Bismarck State College on Friday at 6:00pm, followed by Vermilion Community College at 3:00pm on Saturday.
