Softball Win Streak Hits 30

The Anoka-Ramsey Softball team ran their winning streak to 30 games yesterday, May 3, with a doubleheader sweep over the M-State Spartans by the scores of 18-1 & 17-0. Both games were 5-inning affairs. The Golden Rams are now 36-9 (14-0, 1st place MCAC Southern Division).

Both games yesterday were an offensive display by one of the best hitting teams in the country. The Golden Rams are in the top three nationally as a team in almost every offensive category.

Every Golden Ram player had at least one hit yesterday, with many players having huge days. The team was led by Lyla Galli who was 8-8, 7 runs scored, 2 2Bs, 2 3Bs, 1 HR, and 7 RBIs. Galli is currently tied for the lead nationally in HRs with 12 and is second in RBIs with 75.

Another player who had a big day at the plate was Maddie Bottineau who was perfect in game one going 4-4 with 2 2Bs and 2 RBIs. Bottineau also added two more hits in game two. Bottineau is currently 2nd in the nation with 21 doubles. Also, getting 3 or more hits on the day were Emma Bright, Emma Hurd, Molly Gross, and Kelsey Henninger. Bright and Hurd continue to 1-2 in the nation in stolen bases and runs scored.

The pitching was fabulous again yesterday as well. Gross and Bottineau dominated from the circle picking up their 15th and 9th wins of the season. Gross is in the top three in country in wins, strikeouts, and ERA. Bottineau struck-out a career high of 12 batters.

The Golden Rams will close out their regular season today on the road as they travel to Ridgewater to take on the Warriors in MCAC Southern Division play.
