Softball Sweeps Way Into Postseason

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Softball team swept Ridgewater College 10-0 and 9-7 to close out the regular season on Thursday afternoon.

Game one of the doubleheader was all Anoka-Ramsey.

The Golden Rams dominated the game at the plate and in the pitching circle.

Offensively, the team collected 12 hits. The Golden Rams were led by Lindsey Swanson (FR, Irondale) who had a monster game going 4-4 with a double, homerun and 2 RBI's and Ashton Prachar (FR, Rush City) who scored 3 runs and had a double and triple.

In the pitching circle, Quincy Gross (SO, Columbia Heights) was her usual dominant self. Quincy struck-out 7 while only giving up 2 hits to earn the 5-inning shut-out.

The second game of the doubleheader saw Anoka-Ramsey get off to an early 4-0 lead after three innings, only to see Ridgewater come back with 7 runs the next two innings by a combination of hits and errors to take a 7-5 lead heading into the top of the 6th.

The Golden Rams then took advantage of a walk and error to start the inning, followed by four hard-hit balls that led to the 4-run inning to take the lead back at 9-7.

Anoka-Ramsey was then able to settle down and control their play to close-out the victory.

The top of the batting order was outstanding in this game! Alexus Martin-Warren (SO, Andover) was 4-5 with 3 doubles and 2 RBI's, Prachar was 2-3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI's, Shannon Olson (SO, Andover) had 2 hits including a homerun and 2 RBI's and Swanson was 3-4 also with a homerun and 2 RBI's.

Lizzy Haugstad (FR, Armstrong) pitched a strong first 4 innings and Swanson came in the 5th to finish up the game and pick up the win.

Anoka-Ramsey finishes the regular season 25-18 and 15-5 in MCAC Southern Division play.

The Golden Rams will next play in the Region XIIIA Tournament held in Waite Park, MN on May 11 and 12.

Time and opponent are yet to be announced. The winner of the Region tournament will advance to the National Tournament held in Rochester, MN, May 18-20.
