Softball Picks Up Two Wins over MN West

The Golden Rams of Anoka-Ramsey got the train back on the tracks this past Friday, April 28, with a doubleheader sweep of the BlueJays of Minnesota West by the scores of 11-2 and 20-6.

The first game of the doubleheader saw the Golden Rams score in every inning for the first time all year.

This allowed the team to get to a 9-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 5th which they then finished the game by the 8-run rule in 6 innings.

The team racked up 12 hits with four players getting two hits apiece.

These players were FR Lizzy Haugstad (Armstrong), SO Shannon Olson (Andover), FR Ashton Prachar (Rush City) and SO Alexus Martin-Warren (Andover).

FR Lindsey Swanson picked up her 8th win of the season by striking out five, walking zero and only giving up seven hits in six innings of work.

 Game two of the doubleheader saw the Golden Rams put up a season high 20 runs on 14 hits.
The team fell behind early, 4-1 after two innings before the hit parade and run barrage took place.
Offensively the team was led by SO SS Becca "Chips" Liebelt (Columbia Heights) who had 2 triples which produced 5 RBI's and Swanson who also knocked in 5 runs.
Also putting up big offensive numbers for Anoka-Ramsey were Prachar who went 3-3 with a double and a triple while also scoring 4 runs, FR C Karina Pritchard (Richfield) who had 2 doubles, a triple and 3 RBI's and Martin-Warren who had 2 more hits and 2 RBI's.
The story in the circle was Haugstad who hadn't pitched in a game in over a month and recorded her 1st collegiate victory. She kept the BlueJays off balance all game long while striking-out six and scattering nine hits.

Anoka-Ramsey finishes the final week of regular season play with road games at St. Thomas and Ridgewater with a home date against MSCTC- Fergus.

Next week the Golden Rams will compete in the Region XIIIA Tournament May 11 and 12 in Waite Park, MN. Game times and opponent are yet to be determined.
