Golden Rams Sweep Ridgewater

The #6 ranked Anoka-Ramsey Softball team came away with another doubleheader sweep this past Monday, April 17, by defeating MCAC Southern Division opponent Ridgewater by scores of 14-0 and 9-1.

Game one saw the Golden Rams put up 12 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning and they never looked back.

Anoka-Ramsey accumulated only seven hits but was the beneficiary of 10 Warrior free passes and four hit by pitches.

Alexus Martin-Warren (SO, Andover) was 2-2 with a double and a RBI and Lizzy Haugstad (FR, Robbinsdale Armstrong), produced 4 RBI's at the plate.

Pitching the complete game shut-out for her 8th consecutive win, 9th overall, was Quincy Gross (SO, Columbia Heights). Quincy struck-out 12 and only allowed two hits.

Game two saw the Warriors pounce to a quick 1-0 lead after the top of the 1st, but the Golden Rams quietly roared back with three runs of their own to take a 3-1.

The game stayed close until the 4th and 5th innings when the Golden Rams put up a 3-spot each inning for the 8-run mercy rule win.

Leading the way offensively for Anoka-Ramsey was Shannon Olson (SO, Ramsey) who had 2 hits and 2 RBI's, Alexus Martin-Warren who had 2 hits to go along with 3RBI's, Ashton Prachar (FR, Rush City) 2 hits and Quincy Gross who had 2 RBI's.

Lindsey Swanson picked up her 7th win of the season showing great control striking out four and issuing zero base on balls.

With the sweep, the #6 ranked Golden Rams improved to 19-11 overall and remained in a first place tie for the MCAC Southern Division lead with a 9-1 record.

Next up for the Golden Rams will be an away trip to Austin on Saturday, April 22 to face the Riverland Blue Devils in MCAC play.
