Softball Gets Two Wins in Crossover

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Softball team opened up the MCAC Crossover event with two wins defeating NJCAA Division II member Dakota County Tech 7-6 in 9 innings before dispatching Northland Community and Technical College 12-1 in 5 innings.

In game one, the Golden Rams fell behind quickly after a 3-run homerun in the bottom of the 1st inning, but then rebounded for 4 runs in the top of the 3rd to take a lead that they never relinquished.

Freshman Ashton Prachar (Rush City) delivered a bases clearing triple that was key to the Golden Rams taking the lead.

Anoka-Ramsey took a two run lead into the bottom of the 7th when DCTC hit a 2-run homerun to tie the game. Both teams traded runs in the 8th with the Golden Rams scoring another run in the top of the 9th to take a one run lead.

This time that one run was good enough to hold up as sophomore Quincy Gross (Columbia Heights) struck out the final batter for her 15th strike out of the game and her 3rd win of the season.

ARCC was led at the plate by Prachar who went 2-4 with 3 RBI'S and a triple and JoJo Liebelt (Fr, Columbia Heights) who was 2-3 with a double.

Game two saw the Golden Rams ride the momentum from the thrilling extra-inning win for the their second "W" of the day.

Anoka-Ramsey was the beneficiary of 16 free passes with a handful of hits mixed in.

Ashton Prachar was once again a one-person highlight show at the plate where she was 3-3 with 3 runs scored, 2 doubles and 5 RBI'S.

Lindsey Swanson (Fr, Irondale) picked up her 2nd win of the season in the circle while striking out seven. The Golden Rams are now 5-10 thus far in this young season.
