Softball Finishes Florida Trip with Split

Softball Finishes Florida Trip with Split

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Softball team endured a roller coaster day to earn a split on their final day in Florida.

The day began with the Golden Rams opening up a 7-2 lead over #7 ranked Rowan Gloucester, only to see that lead quickly evaporate to a 10-7 deficit and ending with a 15-9 loss.

Defensively, Anoka-Ramsey had a very poor day in the field committing 14 errors.

Offensively, the team put together nine hits, with nearly every starter getting at least one hit. Alexus Martin-Warren (Andover, SO) had two hits and Quincy Gross (Columbia Heights, SO) had three RBI's.

After such a disappointing loss, it was unsure which Anoka-Ramsey team would show up to play in game two.

But the Golden Rams put together their best performance of the week with a 10-1 six inning win over #8 ranked Suffolk County.

The Golden Rams got an outstanding pitching performance from Sophomore Quincy Gross (Columbia Heights) who only gave up one infield single and struck out 12.

The team defense rebounded by not committing an error.

The offense pounded out 12 hits while swiping nine steals on the basepaths.

Leading the way with two hits a piece were Shannon Olson (Andover, SO), who also had 4 RBI's, Ashton Prachar (Rush City, FR), Becca Liebelt (Columbia Heights, SO) and Quincy Gross.

Leading the theft of bases with four steals was Steph Keeler (Fridley, SO).

The team ended their spring trip with a 3-6 record, but beat the #8 and #9 ranked teams at the NJCAA D-3 level. The Golden Rams are off until the MCAC crossover March 24 & 25 in Rochester, MN.
