Men's Basketball Splits Weekend Series

The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team split their weekend series, falling to MN North Vermilion 72-70 on Friday night before dispatching MN North Mesabi 92-60 on Saturday.

The Golden Rams led Vermilion by seven with just under five minutes to play, but only managed three points the rest of the way in losing on a last second steal and dunk from the Ironhawks.

Anoka-Ramey has lost two games this season by a total of three points.

Free throws were the difference against Vermilion as the Ironhawks converted 18 of 24 attempts, with Anoka-Ramsey making 3 of 3.

Micah Adkins scored 22 points on 10 of 16 shooting while adding 12 rebounds.

Chaz Franklin scored 15 points with seven rebounds.

Raijad "Ray" Lee scored 11 points making 5 of 8 from the field.

On Saturday, Anoka-Ramsey had a rematch with MN North Mesabi.  Back on November 15 the Golden Rams beat the Norse 74-71, but had little issue this time around in running away with the win.

The Golden Rams held Mesabi to just 31.6 percent shooting and 4 of 24 from three while forcing 24 turnovers.

Anoka-Ramsey countered with 50 percent from the field (32-64) and 46.4 percent from three (13-28).

Yasir Baig came off the bench to score 21 points knocking down 5 of 7 threes.

Adkins scored 15 points and pulled in seven rebounds while blocking five shots.

Ibrahim El-Amin tallied 13 points and added four assists.

Anoka-Ramsey is 4-2 overall and will host crosstown rival Dakota County Tech on Wednesday at 7:00pm.
