Men's Basketball Ends Regular Season with Loss to Rochester

The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team fell to Rochester 77-63 to conclude the regular season on Wednesday night.  All other teams have one game remaining, but with Western Tech not fielding a men's team during conference play Anoka-Ramsey will not play the final weekend.

The Golden Rams fell behind 43-29 at halftime due to just 30 percent shooting in the first half.  Anoka-Ramsey managed to make 5 of 11 threes, but just 4 of 19 from inside the arc and 6 of 12 free throws in the opening 20 minutes, while Rochester connected on 48.4 percent of their shots and made 6 of 8 from three.

Anoka-Ramsey was within three points with 4:28 to go in the half but Rochester closed the period on a 14-3 run.

Rochester led by as many as 32 in the second half.

Anoka-Ramsey finished the game shooting 34.9 percent overall and lost the rebound battle 49-32.

Manny Jingco scored 13 points.  Albert Tinnel and Daydor Phillips each had eight points.

The Golden Rams finish the regular season 12-10 overall, 7-5 in the MCAC.

Currently, Anoka-Ramsey sits in fourth place.  One half game ahead of fifth place M|State, and one half game behind Rochester, St. Cloud Tech, and Riverland who are all tied for the division lead.

If M|State Fergus Falls defeats Ridgewater in their season finale there will be a three-way tie for third, with only two teams able to make the post-season.  Tie-breaker scenarios will then determine the final two teams to make the tournament.

Should M|State lose to Ridgewater, the Golden Rams will be in a two-way tie for third.
