Men's Basketball Uses Big Second Half Run to Down Joliet

The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team improved to 5-3 on the season, thanks in part to a big second half run in beating Joliet Junior College 98-65 on Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Rams led by eight points, 53-45 with 16:20 to go in the game but went on an extended 26-6 run over the next nine minutes to put the game away.

Anoka-Ramsey shot 52.9 percent in the first half on their way to a 45-35 lead at the break.

A Manny Jingco layup kick-started the big second half run which also included 11 points from Matthew Ellingson.

The Golden Rams made 22 of 29 second half shots (75.9 percent) on their way to a season-high 63.5 percent shooting for the game.

Anoka-Ramsey also knocked down 10 of 21 threes and outrebounded the Wolves 40-21.

Ellingson finished with 30 points on 12 of 18 shooting and 3 of 5 from three to go with eight rebounds.

Steven Colon knocked down four threes on his way to 18 points.

Micah Adkins chipped in 15 points off the bench making 7 of 9 field goals while adding seven rebounds.

Albert Tinnel scored ten points, and Jingco had seven assists.

Anoka-Ramsey is off until December 29-30 when they travel to Dakota County Tech for games against DCTC and North Dakota State College of Science.
