It was a rough day for the Golden Rams, as they dropped two games to MCAC opponent St. Cloud Tech. Anoka-Ramsey was coming off a weekend chalked full of division games, where they were heading into the games with a short pitching staff.
Coach Saulsbury stated, "We were in a tough situation heading into the St. Cloud games. After playing four this weekend to division rivals Rochester and Riverland, along with two more this coming Friday vs Riverland, we had to make a decision to be very careful with the pitching staff and conserve everything we could for the upcoming Riverland games. Even with that said, St. Cloud is an extremely talented team and they are rolling with 22 straight wins now. Coach Fischer has done a great job guiding that program."
Game 1
Anoka-Ramsey Community College watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 14-4 loss to St. Cloud Technical & Community College on Tuesday.
The Golden Rams struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing St. Cloud Tech, giving up 14 runs. St. Cloud Tech opened up scoring in the first inning, as Gabriel Romero hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run.
Anoka-Ramsey scored three runs in the fourth inning on Dylan Conrad's three run home run to lead the run scoring.
St. Cloud Tech continued their offensive onslaught, scored five runs in the sixth inning.
Austin Gohl pitched St. Cloud Technical & Community College to victory. He lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out ten and walking one. Colin Bernard took the loss for the Golden Rams. He surrendered six runs on seven hits over three innings, striking out two.
Brandon Watkins led Anoka-Ramsey with two hits in three at bats.
Game 2
Anoka-Ramsey Community College watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 16-0 loss to St. Cloud Technical & Community College on Tuesday.
St. Cloud Tech took the lead on a home run in the first inning. Anoka-Ramsey once again struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the high powered St. Cloud Tech offense, giving up 16 runs.
One bright spot for Anoka-Ramsey was a single by Wyatt Kerkes in the fourth inning.
Michael Ulland earned the win for St. Cloud. He went two innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out one and walking one. Eric Walker took the loss for the Golden Rams. He went two innings, allowing eight runs on ten hits, striking out two and walking one.
Cole Wellmann started the game for St. Cloud Technical & Community College. He went three innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits and striking out four
St. Cloud Tech launched two home runs on the day. Massa went for the long ball in the first inning. Leo Gonzalez had a four bagger in the second inning.
Kerkes and Patrick Taylor each collected one hit to lead Anoka-Ramsey.
