Women's Basketball Falls to Bismarck, Beats Joliet

The Anoka-Ramsey Women's Basketball team dropped their first game of the season 69-65 in overtime to Bismarck State on Saturday, before rebounding with a 73-57 win over Joliet on Sunday.

In the loss to Bismarck, the Golden Rams ran out gas having only seven players available and let a 13 point 4th quarter lead slip away.

The Mystics used a 14-4 run to pull within three points, then tied the game with 46 seconds to go.

Anoka-Ramsey managed just four points in the extra period.

The Golden Rams shot 28.9 percent overall, and made just 12 of 25 free throws.  The Mystics countered by making 14 of 36 three-point attempts to offset their 27 turnovers.

Anoka-Ramsey was led by Bella Kanz with 21 points and ten rebounds.

Alex McNeill scored 19 points making 5 of 11 threes.

Jordan McMahon pulled in 14 rebounds.

The Golden Rams responded the next day with a win over Joliet thanks to 22 forced turnovers and holding the Wolves to just 2 of 22 from the three-point line.

Makayla Holten scored 25 points on 10 of 18 from the field with four steals.

McNeill scored 22 points.

McMahon added 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Kanz tallied ten points and ten rebounds.

Anoka-Ramsey is 12-1 overall and is off until MCAC Southern Division play begins January 6.
