Golden Rams Enter Holiday Break with 55-44 Win Over Joliet

The Anoka-Ramsey Women's Basketball team kept their perfect record in place with a 55-44 win over Joliet Junior College on Sunday morning.

The Golden Rams are now 10-0 to begin the season.

Stifling defense by the Golden Rams allowed a 14-4 lead at the end of the first quarter, however the Wolves shot 44.4 percent in the second quarter to pull within two points at halftime.

Anoka-Ramsey pushed the lead to six points midway through the third quarter before the Wolves trimmed the lead back down to one.

A layup from Kimori Morris, followed by a three from Mikayla Kanenwisher pushed the Anoka-Ramsey lead back up to six entering the fourth.

Joliet kept pace early the fourth quarter but a CeCe Bell jumper gave Anoka-Ramsey a ten point lead with 2:50 to go an essentially sealed the game.

Neither team shot the ball particularly well with the Golden Rams connecting on just 27.3 percent overall, and Joliet making 28.4 percent.

Anoka-Ramsey held a 13-4 edge in made free throws and out-rebounded the Wolves 55-43.

Bell and Toni Williams each had 12 points off the bench for the Golden Rams, with Kanenwisher tallying ten points.

Bell also pulled in 11 reebounds.  Sydney Kehr had ten boards.

Anoka-Ramsey is off until December 30-31 when they travel to Brainerd for the Central Lakes College Classic.
