Defense Stifles Ridgewater as Golden Rams Win

The Anoka-Ramsey Women's Basketball team used a dominating effort on the defensive end to earn a 91-38 win over Ridgewater and take a two game lead in the MCAC Southern Division.

The Golden Rams forced 35 turnovers and held the Warriors to just 30.6 percent shooting on the evening.

Anoka-Ramsey led 54-36 with six minutes to go in the third quarter before going on a 30-0 run to put the game away.  Anoka-Ramsey held the Warriors to just two points over the final 16 minutes of the game.

The Golden Rams knocked down five threes during their decisive run as four different players hit from deep including two from Adaya Sandifer.

Anoka-Ramsey shot 46.8 percent overall and connected on 12 of 37 three-point attempts.  The Golden Rams also pulled in 20 offensive rebounds.

Charo Nickens scored 26 points on 13 of 19 shooting.

Sandifer scored 23 points while recording nine assists and six steals.

Piper Flemming knocked down four threes for her 12 points.

Anoka-Ramsey improves to 17-5 overall, 7-0 in the MCAC Southern Division.  With Western Tech's Wednesday night loss the Golden Rams have a two game lead in the Division with three games left to play.

Next up is a trip to St. Cloud Tech on Saturday, February 15 for a 1:30pm start time.
