Softball Gets Two More Wins in Florida

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Softball team continued their Spring trip in Florida by sweeping two games on day 3.

The Golden Rams defeated Central Lakes 12-9 before dropping Suny Adirondack (NY) 10-1 in five innings.

Against Central Lakes the Golden Rams trailed by three runs entering the top of the seventh when they scored six runs to take a 12-9 lead and holding on for the win.

Leading the way at the plate were Cleopatra Nystrom who had two hits and two RBIs, Mickey Guenther who had two hits, Emily Robinette who had two hits and two RBIs, and Cassie Benson who also had two hits and two RBIs.

Picking up her first collegiate win in relief was Guenther who pitched the final three innings only giving up two hits and two runs.

The final game of the day turned out to be the most complete game of the Spring trip.  Head Coach Dave Alto said, "I was really proud of the team in their effort and enthusiams.  They were excited and fired up by alumni Shannon Olson in attendance.  I am extremely grateful when alumni come back and give back to the program."

Offensively the team was led by Breanna Stang who went 3 for 3 with one double and four RBI.  Also contributing at the plate getting two hits apiece were Cleopatra Nystrom, Ashley Stepaniak, and Lindsey Swanson.  In the circle picking up her second win of the season was Swanson who struck out four and gave up only one run.

Anoka-Ramsey is now 3-3 on the season with a three game winning strak.
