
The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball needed overtime to top Northern Division foe Central Lakes on Wednesday evening 85-84.
The Golden Rams made 13 of 32 three-point attempts for the game and out-rebounded the Raiders 52-40.
Anoka-Ramsey fell behind 7-1 to start the game but rallied to take a 14-12 lead.
Central Lakes would eventually pull ahead 33-23 before Anoka-Ramsey chipped away and trailed 39-34 at halftime.
A 9-0 run to start the second half gave Anoka-Ramsey a 43-39 lead, which they would extend to 67-57 with under four minutes to play.
The Raiders responded with a 10-0 run to tie the game, and the teams went to overtime tied at 71.
Neither team led by more than one possession throughout overtime, then Albert Tinnel IV scored with .7 left to break a 83-83 tie. However, Anoka-Ramsey received an adminstrative techincal for players leaving the bench before time had expired, granting Central Lakes one free throw which they made. With no timeouts left the Raiders had to go the length of the court but a half-court heave fell short.
Akeem Nelson led the way with 20 points on 7 of 16 shooting and 6 of 12 from three to go with eight assists.
Tinnel finished with 17 points, and Jamal Woods had a double-double off the bench with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Anoka-Ramsey improves to 2-0 and will travel to North Dakota State College of Science for two games Friday and Saturday.
