Men's Basketball Drops Two Weekend Games

The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team had costly second half droughts in two losses last weekend, falling 78-73 to Bismarck State and 84-10 to Joliet.

Against the Mystics, the Golden Rams took a 70-57 lead with just under nine minutes to go, but was unable to score for over 8:30 of game time.

Bismarck State used a 19-0 run to take a six point lead with 10 seconds to play.

Anoka-Ramsey outshot the Mystics 49.2 percent to 43.8 percent - but Bismarck State held a 10-7 edge in made threes and connected on 12 free throws to just four for Anoka-Ramsey.

Ibrahim El-Amin scored 22 points in the loss, with Chaz Franklin adding 21 on 9 of 15 shooting.

In the subsequent game, Anoka-Ramsey and Joliet were tied at 39 apiece at halftime before the Wolves outscored Anoka-Ramsey by 14 in the second half.

Joliet scored the first six points of the second half and extended the lead to 12 just six minutes into the half.

The Golden Rams pulled back within five points midway thru the half but were unable to get any closer.

Joliet owned the boards by out-rebounding Anoka-Ramsey 51-26 including 20-4 on the offensive glass.

El-Amin scored 30 points on 12 of 20 from the field and 3 of 5 from three.

Micah Adkins scored 19 points to go with eight rebounds.

Derrick Love scored ten points.

Anoka-Ramsey falls to 6-5 and will travel to the DCTC Classic Dec 29-30.
