Men's Basketball Falls to Rochester 75-73

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team, ranked #2 in last week's NJCAA poll, fell 75-73 on the road to Rochester Community and Technical College Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Rams started the game slowly failing to convert on the offensive end, but steadily found their footing as the half progressed and would eventually lead 43-37 at halftime.

Chris Morgan started the second half with an alley-oop dunk from Mahad Haji and the Golden Rams would build a 50-40 lead.

Rochester responded with the next six points and the teams would battle back and forth the remainder of the game.

Anoka-Ramsey trailed 73-71 with under 15 seconds to play, but Mamadou Ngom was fouled on a baseline inbounds pass and made both free throws to tie the score.

Rochester raced down the court and managed to find an open 17 foot jump shot along the baseline which they made with 3.5 seconds to play.

After a Golden Ram timeout, Ngom had to force a half court heave that fell off the mark and Anoka-Ramsey suffered their first MCAC Southern Division defeat.

Anoka-Ramsey shot just 38.8 percent from the field and were outrebounded 50-42 while committing 16 turnovers.

Ngom scored 14 points to go with eight rebounds.

Zane Lind had 11 points making 3 of 5 from beyond the arc.

Edvonte Copeland scored ten points.

Morgan finished with eight points and 12 rebounds.

The Golden Rams fall to 17-2 overall and will return home for four of their next five contests beginning February 1st at home vs. Ridgewater at 7:45pm.
