Baseball Takes Game One, Drops Game Two to Rochester

Game 1: Anoka-Ramsey 9 - Rochester 6

Anoka-Ramsey Community College ran off with the lead late in the game in a 9-6 victory over Rochester Community and Technical College on Wednesday. The game was tied at three with Anoka-Ramsey Community College batting in the bottom of the fifth when Benji Bruce lined out, driving in a run.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as Anoka-Ramsey collected 12 hits and RCTC five in the high-scoring affair

Anoka-Ramsey got things moving in the first inning, when Zach Ziesmer doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

RCTC  knotted the game up at three in the top of the third inning. An error scored two runs for RCTC.

RCTC scored three runs in the sixth inning. Jovan Morrero and Cade Hinkle all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Dillon Stai earned the win for the Golden Rams. The pitcher surrendered six runs on five hits over four innings, striking out five. Brandon Klink threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Klink recorded the last three outs to earn the save.

Jovanni Gonzalez took the loss for RCTC. The righthander lasted one-third of an inning, allowing three hits and six runs.

Alec Dietl started the game for Rochester. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out four and walking one.  Dan Foley started the game for Anoka-Ramsey, where the lefty allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out two

Anoka-Ramsey racked up 12 hits on the day. Brandon Watkins, Ziesmer, Trevor Adams, and Nate Tillman all managed multiple hits for Anoka-Ramsey. Watkins led the Golden Rams with three hits in four at bats.

 

Game 2: Rochester 3 - Anoka-Ramsey 1

Anoka-Ramsey Community College stayed in it until the end, but Rochester Community and Technical College pulled away late in a 3-1 victory on Wednesday. The game was tied at one with Rochester Community and Technical College batting in the top of the seventh when Blake Schilling singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

The pitching was strong on both sides. RCTC pitchers struck out four, while Anoka-Ramsey sat down seven.

In the bottom of the third inning, Anoka-Ramsey tied things up at one when an error scored one run for the Golden Rams.

Carlos Ramirez was the winning pitcher for RCTC. The pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking zero. Ryan Robby threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Robby recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Yellow Jackets.  Brady Nelson started the game for Rochester, where he surrendered one run on five hits over four innings, striking out two

Derek Heldman took the loss for Anoka-Ramsey.  Benji Bruce started the game for the Golden Rams. The pitcher lasted six innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out six.

Dan Foley led Anoka-Ramsey with two hits in four at bats.
