Baseball Narrowly Falls to Century

Game 1: Anoka-Ramsey 6 - Century 7

Anoka-Ramsey Community College fought back after falling down by six runs in the fifth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 7-6 defeat to the Century College Ducks on Monday.

Despite the loss, Anoka-Ramsey did collect eight hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Century College had nine hits on the way to victory.

Anoka-Ramsey opened up scoring in the first inning when Zach Ziesmer's sac fly scored one run for the Golden Rams.  In the bottom of the first inning, Century College answered right back tying things up at one.

Century College Ducks pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Matt Nunn was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Baehler grounded out, scoring one run, and Ben Clapp singled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.

Anoka-Ramsey notched five runs in the seventh inning. The offensive onslaught came from a single by Goodin, a home run by Hegarty, and a groundout by Bruce.

Isaac Benesh was credited with the victory for Century College. The lefthander lasted six innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out three. Gabby Santana threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Nate Tillman took the loss for Anoka-Ramsey. Tillman lasted five innings, allowing nine hits and seven runs while striking out three and walking one.

The Golden Rams hit one home run on the day. Hegarty had a four bagger in the seventh inning.

Anoka-Ramsey tallied eight hits on the day. Brandon Watkins and Kyler Stuart each racked up multiple hits for the Golden Rams.  Anoka-Ramsey was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error.

 

Game 2: Anoka-Ramsey 3 - Century 4

Monday's game against Century College was a heartbreaker for Anoka-Ramsey Community College, as they lost the lead late in a 4-3 defeat. Century College was down 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Matt Nunn singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

Century College fired up the offense in the second inning, when Bates singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

David Van Ort was the winning pitcher for the Ducks. The pitcher surrendered three runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out six. Wright threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Braydon Buttweiler took the loss for Anoka-Ramsey. The pitcher surrendered three runs on six hits over three innings, striking out one and walking one.

Kyler Stuart started the game for the Golden Rams. The righty lasted three innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out one and walking one

Anoka-Ramsey racked up seven hits on the day. Brydon Hegarty and Brandon Watkins all managed multiple hits for the Golden Rams.

Century College saw the ball well, racking up 11 hits in the game. Brendan McKevitt, Nunn, Bates, and Jacobs each had multiple hits for the Ducks.
