Golden Rams Beat Vermilion, Fall to CLC

vs. Vermilion - 6-5 win

Anoka-Ramsey Community College built a four-run lead in the third inning and then held off Vermilion Community College's charge for a 6-5 victory on Saturday.  Anoka-Ramsey fired up the offense right out of the gates, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning.  

Vermilion scored three runs in the third inning, but Anoka-Ramsey still managed to pull out the victory.

Drake Bakkum earned the win for the Golden Rams. The righthander went four innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out four.

Ryan Kling took the loss for Vermilion. The hurler went seven innings, allowing six runs on eight hits and striking out seven.

Kyler Stuart started the game for Anoka-Ramsey. Stuart surrendered four runs on six hits over three innings, striking out one.

Anoka-Ramsey collected eight hits on the day. Brandon Watkins and Elliott Barton each collected multiple hits for the Golden Rams. Watkins went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Anoka-Ramsey in hits.

 

vs. Central Lakes - 6-4 loss

Anoka-Ramsey Community College stayed in it until the end, but Central Lakes College pulled away late in a 6-4 victory on Saturday. The game was tied at four with Central Lakes batting in the bottom of the sixth, when Adam Braun homered on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.

Anoka-Ramsey fired up the offense in the first inning, scoring two runs.  They added one more in both the top of the 3rd and 4th innings, building a 4-1 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth inning, Central Lakes tied things up at four. Jake Kapphahn drove in three when he doubled.

Preston Rocheleau was the winning pitcher for Central Lakes College. The bulldog went seven innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out six.

Nate Tillman took the loss for Anoka-Ramsey. Tillman lasted one inning, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out one and walking one.

Hunter Smith started the game for the Golden Rams. The righty lasted five innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out five and walking zero.

Anoka-Ramsey smacked one home run on the day. Brandon Watkins had a four bagger in the third inning.

Tyler Traphagen led Anoka-Ramsey with two hits in four at bats.
