Women's Soccer Defeats Rochester for Title

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Soccer team put on a dominating performance to defeat Rochester 12-1 and claim the Region XIII Championship on Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Rams struck quickly with a goal from Kati Beckman in the second minute, followed by Emerald McGlashan scoring in the fourth minute for a 2-0 lead.

Rochester quickly responded to pull within 2-1, but it was all Anoka-Ramsey from there as the Golden Rams took a 7-1 lead into halftime, before adding five more goals in the second half.

The Beckman sisters, Kati and Megan, each scored three goals with Allison Bastyr and McGlahsan each adding two.

Emma MacDonnell and Avianna McGregor each added goals in the victory.

The Golden Rams have now won their sixth consecutive Region XIII title.

Anoka-Ramsey will play the District D Championship game on Saturday, October 28 at 4pm at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul.  The Golden Rams will face the winner of the Joliet vs. Madison game which is on Tuesday afternoon.
