Women's Basketball Earns Tough Road Win over MN West

The Anoka-Ramsey Women's Basketball team earned a hard-fought road win at rival Minnesota West on Saturday afternoon to remain unbeaten in MCAC Southern Division play.

The Golden Rams' 62-55 win keeps their league record unblemished at 6-0, and a game ahead of Western Tech for first in the Division.  The regular season Southern Division winner will get to hos the NJCAA Region XIIIA tournament February 29-March 1.

Anoka-Ramsey jumped ahead early, leading by nine after the first quater, but a slow second quarter saw them fall behind by three at halftime 29-26.

Anoka-Ramsey reasserted themselves in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Jays 16-10, then held on in the fourth quarter for the win.

The Golden Rams shot 44.4 percent overall and forced 18 turnovers.

Charo Nickens scored 20 points and added ten rebounds for her 12th double-double on the season.

Piper Flemming scored 12 points knocking down four 3's.

Bonita Franco recorded 12 points.

Anoka-Ramsey improves to 16-5 overall and will host Ridgewater on Wednesday, February 12 at 5:30pm.
