Win Streak at Seven as Women's Basketball Beats Bethel JV

The Anoka-Ramsey Women's Basketball team won their seventh straight game, taking care of the Bethel JV 77-59 on Wednesday evening in Coon Rapids.

The Golden Rams shot 50.8 percent overall including 42.3 percent from the three-point line in the victory.

After falling behind 7-2 the Golden Rams went on a 13-0 run to take a 15-7 lead.  Abby Howe scored six points in the run which culminated in a three from Bonita Franco.

Anoka-Ramsey built a 21-9 lead in the second, and extended it to 27-13 following a Piper Flemming three as the Golden Rams took a 34-24 lead into halftime.

Charo Nickens scored a layup to extend the lead to 14 points, 51-37 with 1:23 to go in third period, and a Raiyne Adams layup early in the fourth gave Anoka-Ramsey a 53-37 lead.

But the Bethel JV fought back, pulling within seven points on a two different occasions midway thru the fourth quarter.

Five points from Adaya Sandifer and a three from Ariana Owens helped keep Bethel at bay as Anoka-Ramsey closed the game on a 14-3 run.

Sandifer scored 18 points making 8 of 12 field goals.

Adams added 14 points on 7 of 13 shooting to go with six rebounds.

Nickens chipped in 12 points while pulling in nine rebounds, dishing five assists, and coming away with four steals.

Flemming knocked down three threes for nine points off the bench.

The Golden Rams improve to 15-5 overall, and will return to MCAC Southern Division play on Saturday, February 8th when they travel to rival Minnesota West.
