Five Players in Double Figures as Golden Rams Win in Rout

The Anoka-Ramsey Women's Basketball team put in a dominant defensive performance to beat Ridgewater 88-32 on Wednesday night in Willmar.

The Golden Rams forced 36 turnovers and out-rebounded the Warriors 43-24.

Anoka-Ramsey attempted 81 field goals to just 42 for Ridgewater.

Five players scored in double figures led by Bonita Franco with 15.  Abby Howe aded 15 points, while Charo Nickens (13), Ariana Owens (12), and Piper Flemming (10) also reached double digits.

Ridgewater scored the first four points of the game to take the early lead, but Anoka-Ramsey started to exert themselves defensively as they went on a 9-0 run.

After a Warrior basket Anoka-Ramsey rattled off six straight, and led 18-10 after the first quarter.

A 10-0 run to open the second quarter extended the lead to 18 points.  Another 10-0 spurt later in the quarter pushed the lead to 28 as Anoka-Ramsey held Ridgewater to just six points in the second quarter.

Ten Golden Ram players played at least 13 minutes in the game, and the Golden Rams recorded 27 steals.

Anoka-Ramsey improves to 11-5 overall, 2-0 in the MCAC.  The Golden Rams host Minnesota West on Sunday, January 19 at 1:00pm.
