The Anoka-Ramsey Women's Basketball team hosted a pair of MCAC Northern Division opponents and came away with two wins last weekend.
The Golden Rams defeated Hibbing 96-63 on Friday night, before dispatching Rainy River 96-83 on Saturday afternoon.
Anoka-Ramsey, who leads the nation in made threes despite playing less games than every other team in the top 10, continued their run of hot shooting at home by making 14 of 33 three-point attempts against Hibbing, and adding 18 more made threes against Rainy River.
The Golden Rams are making 37.5 percent of their threes at home, while connecting on just 20.7 percent while on the road.
Anoka-Ramsey has not trailed for three straight games.
Against Hibbing, Anoka-Ramsey opened up a 12-6 lead early on before pushing the lead to 22-12 after a jumper from Abby Howe.
The lead extended to 16 points mid-way thru the second quarter after a Chloe Vezies basket, but a 16-8 Hibbing run cut the deficit to just eight points, 42-34.
A free throw from Vezies and a three from Charo Nickens ended the half with Anoka-Ramsey up 46-34.
The Cardinals again made a run in the third quarter, trimming the deficit to seven points, before five straight points from Howe pushed the lead back into double digits.
Anoka-Ramsey closed the third quarter with consecutive threes from Piper Flemming, Ariana Owens, and Howe to build a 71-53 lead heading into the fourth where they would run away with the game.
Anoka-Ramsey shot 48.7 percent overall and forced 22 turnovers.
Howe led all scorers with 24 points on 9 of 13 shooting.
Vezies scored 17 points making 6 of 14 from the field.
Nickens added another double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Hailey Babcock chipped in with 11 points.
On Saturday, Anoka-Ramsey built a 34 point lead in the third quarter before Rainy River made a bit of a comeback, but it wasn't enough to overtake the Golden Rams.
Anoka-Ramsey shot over 50 percent in the first three quarters, finishing the game at 46.7 percent overall.
Six players reached double figures in scoring for a balanced attack.
With the score tied 9-9, Adaya Sandifer made a three to kick off a 23-6 run to finish off the quarter.
A three from Owens mid-way thru the second quarter pushed the lead to 44-19, with another Owens three in the third giving Anoka-Ramsey their biggest lead, 73-39.
From there Rainy River started to make a run, but ran out of time in their quest for the win.
Vezies scored 24 points making 6 of 11 threes.
Nickens continues to add to her season double-doubles with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Sandifer also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 assists, adding six rebounds for good measure.
Owens also tallied 14 points, with Piper Flemming scoring 13, and Howe adding 12.
Anoka-Ramsey improves to 6-3 overall, and will return to action on December 21st and 22nd, hosting the ARCC Holiday Classic.
