Women's Basketball Beats CLC; DeWitt Gets Win #300

The Anoka-Ramsey Women's Basketball team beat Central Lakes 86-46 on Tuesday evening, earning head coach Dave DeWitt his 300th career win at the helm of the Golden Rams.

A big second quarter was the main factor in the lopsided win, as Anoka-Ramsey shot 54.5 percent and outscored the Raiders 28-8 in the period.

Anoka-Ramsey jumped out to a 7-0 lead, but Raiders hung around an only trailed 18-14 after the first quarter.

That's when the Anoka-Ramsey defense took control, holding CLC scoreless for the first seven minutes of the second quarter and rattling off 22 straight points.

The Golden Rams forced eight turnovers in the stretch and 29 total for the game, with seven different players scoring during that decisive second quarter run.

Anoka-Ramsey shot 40 percent overall and attempted a season-high 49 threes, connecting on 13 of them.

The Golden Rams held a 55-36 edge in rebounding including 24-6 on the offensive end to go along with 22 steals.

Charo Nickens continued her hot play scoring 27 points and adding 14 rebounds, her fourth double-double of the season.

Twelve players scored on the night with Ariana Owens (9), Raiyne Adams (8), Adaya Sandifer (8), and Chloe Vezies (7) balancing out the starting unit.

Sandifer added ten assists and nine rebounds, narrowly missing a triple-double.
