Cold Shooting Dooms Golden Rams

With 1st place on the line in the MCAC South Division Anoka-Ramsey (20-5, 8-2 MCAC) shot 18-70 from the field. It allowed Western Tech (16-5, 10-0 MCAC) to jump out to a 14-2 lead, and they pulled away in the 2nd half for 59-46 victory. Lexi Schmidtknecht came off the bench to score 15 points for the Cavaliers. 

Charo Nickens continued her steady play scoring 15 points, and grabbing 11 rebounds. Mikayla Homola scored 20 points to lead Anoka-Ramsey. 

Western Tech had a balanced offensive attack as only two players reached double figures for the Cavaliers. Kerrigan Lyga was the only other player with 11 points. Lyga, Casey Moger, and Schmidtknecht all grabbed 7 rebounds for Western Tech, who outrebound Anoka-Ramsey 48-38. 

The Golden Rams kept it close going into the 4th quarter down by 6 points. As the game approached crunch time, and Anoka-Ramsey was forced to foul, Western Tech stepped to the line and hit their free throws going 10-12 in the final 2:30 of the game. 

With the win, Western Tech secured first place in the MCAC Southern Division and will host the NJCAA Region XIIIA tournament March 2-3 in LaCrosse, WI.

The Golden Rams finish the regular season on the road against Ridgewater College on February 23rd.
