Golden Rams Roll over Cyclones

Anoka-Ramsey used a dominant first half in routing the St. Cloud Technical and Community College Cyclones on Wednesday night in women's basketball.

The Golden Rams shot 55.6 percent in the first quarter and held St. Cloud Tech to just 3 of 10 shooting in taking a 24-9 lead after one.

Sophomore Mikayla Homola continued her string of big-scoring games with 30 points, scoring the first 14 Golden Ram points in the second quarter as the lead ballooned to 42-18 at halftime.  Homola has topped 30 points in three consecutive games, and eight times total this season.

Homola then scored the first seven Golden Ram points to open the third quarter.  Back-to-back field goals from Nana Montgomery and McKenna Anderson pushed the lead over 30 with 3:33 left in the third, with Anderson connecting again late in the period to give the Golden Rams a 72-35 lead heading into the fourth.

Anoka-Ramsey cruised to their fourth straight win from there.

Charo Nickens scored 13 points making 5 of 7 field goals to go with ten rebounds.

Raiyne Adams and Adaya Sandifer each chipped in ten points.  Montgomery finished with nine points.

The Golden Rams shot 47 percent overall and forced 18 turnovers.

Anoka-Ramsey improves to 12-3 overall, 1-0 in the MCAC.

The Golden Rams will travel to Minnesota West on Saturday, January 12.
