Rochester Overcomes Golden Rams

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball team, fresh off an upset of Minnesota West, fell 76-49 to Rochester on Wednesday evening.

The Golden Rams shot just 29.9 percent overall for the game as Rochester's pressure defense allowed few open looks and forced 16 Golden Ram turnovers.

Aftr trailing by 11 at the end of the first quarter, Anoka-Ramsey mounted a steady comeback in the second trimming their deficit to just six on multiple occasions.

However, the Yellowjackets went into halftime with a nine point advantage after a late steal and layup.

The Golden Rams struggled out of the gate in the third period as Rochester steadily built a lead they would not relinquish.

Rochester outrebounded Anoka-Ramsey 66 to 35 including a 24 to six edge on the offensive glass.

Kaylee Porisch scored 24 points for Anoka-Ramsey.

Amanda Lindsay tallied 13 points, and Maegan Mckernon chipped in 12.

Anoka-Ramsey is 10-15 overall, 8-5 in the MCAC Southern Division.

The Golden Rams will host Ridgewater on Saturday, February 24 at 1pm.  With both teams holding identical 8-5 division records the winner will secure the #3 seed in the NJCAA Region XIIIA tournament.
