The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball team outscored Riverland 26-12 in the second quarter paving the way for a 86-60 victory on Wednesday evening.
Leading 10-8 in the first quarter the Golden Rams held Riverland without a point for two and half minutes to take a 17-8 lead with three minutes to go in the quarter.
Riverland would fight back to pull within 19-14 at the end of the first.
But the second quarter is where Anoka-Ramsey made their mark.
Maegan Mckernon scored the first four points followed by Kaylee Porisch knocking down a three and the Golden Rams led 26-14.
After a Riverland three, Amanda Lindsay responded with a three of her own to maintain the 12 point lead.
Riverland pulled within 29-20 with 6:41 to go, but Porisch scored five straight followed by two Ashlin Peterson free throws and Anoka-Ramsey was up 36-20.
A Carley Anderson three to end the second quarter put the Golden Rams up 45-26 at halftime.
Lindsay knocked down a three to start the third followed by a Jerusalem Solomon layup to extend the lead to 50-26.
Riverland continued to fight back, pulling within 11 points, 52-41 with six minutes left in the third.
A 10-0 Golden Ram run squashed the Blue Devil comeback as the lead grew to 23 points.
Riverland would not seriously threaten through the fourth quarter as Anoka-Ramsey improved their record to 5-4 in the MCAC Southern Division.
Anoka-Ramsey shot 47.3 percent overall and forced 21 Riverland turnovers.
Porisch and Mckernon each scored 28 points with Porisch hauling in 13 rebounds and Mckernon eight.
Lindsay scored 17 points to go with seven assists.
Anoka-Ramsey next travels to M|State Fergus Falls on Saturday, February 10 for a 1:00pm game.
