The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball team fell 83-62 to #7 Rochester Community and Technical College on Saturday afternoon in Coon Rapids.
The Golden Rams fell behind 5-0 and trailed 17-6 with three minutes to go in the first period.
Rochester extended the lead to 29-9 with 6:26 to play in the second before the Golden Rams mounted a comeback.
Down 35-15 Anoka-Ramsey scored the last nine points of the half with two layups from Kaylee Porisch, a layup from Meagan Mckernon and a three from Amanda Lindsay cutting the deficit to 35-24 at halftime.
A free throw from Porisch with 7:46 to go in the third kept Anoka-Ramsey within striking distance at 38-29. Rochester pushed the lead back to 14 before a Carley Anderson three and a jumper from Porisch pulled Anoka-Ramsey back to within nine. But every run was answered by the Yellowjackets who took a 55-44 lead into the fourth.
After Rochester scored the first basket of the fourth quarter, Porisch once again knocked down a three to keep the Golden Rams within 10 points, 57-47, but a 9-0 Rochester run essentially put the game away as the Golden Rams got no closer than 13 the rest of the night.
Anoka-Ramsey shot 37.5 percent and made 8 of 28 threes, but the Yellowjackets countered with 48.1 percent shooting of their own and outrebounded Anoka-Ramsey 46-19.
Porisch scored 28 making 10 of 21 field goals and 3 of 7 from three.
Mckernon finished with 16 points and eight rebounds.
The Golden Rams fall to 6-12 overall, 4-2 in the MCAC. Next up is a trip to Willmar to face Ridgewater College on Wednesday, January 31 at 5:30pm.
