Women's Basketball Defeats Western Tech

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball team opened MCAC Southern Division play with a 63-49 victory at Western Technical College on Wednesday evening.

The Golden Rams trailed 13-12 at the end of the first period, but used an eight-point run in the second to eventually lead 32-23 at halftime.

Anoka-Ramsey continued their strong defensive performance in the second half to steadily pull away from the Cavaliers.

Western Tech shot just 22.1 percent from the field but stayed close thanks to 27 offensive rebounds.

The Golden Rams finished the game shooting 37 percent but connected on 10 of 21 three-point attempts (47.6 percent).

Kaylee Porisch scored 22 points and hauled in 18 rebounds.

Maegan Mckernon and Carley Anderson each scored 14 points, while Amanda Lindsay chipped in 11 points to go with 11 assists and nine rebounds.
