The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball team dropped their two Northern Division road games this past weekend, falling to Rainy River 75-63 on Friday night before being defeated by Hibbing 66-59 on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Rams trailed 10-8 with three minutes left in the first period to Rainy River before a 9-1 run extended the Voyageurs lead to 19-9.

Rainy River extended the lead to 26-11 with five minutes left in the second quarter, then finished the half on a 12-7 run to go up 38-18 at halftime.

A free throw from Kaylee Porisch followed by a field goal from Amanda Lindsay sparked a 7-0 run to pull within 44-34 in the third quarter.

Jerusalem Solomon knocked down a three-point attempt and the Golden Rams only trailed by nine with 2:37 to play in the third quarter.

A 6-2 spurt by Rainy River to close the period left Anoka-Ramsey behind 57-43 to start the fourth.

Anoka-Ramsey trimmed the deficit to ten to start the fourth quarter but could not get any closer the rest of the way.

The Golden Rams shot 40.7 percnet and made 9 of 26 three-point attempts.

Meagan Mckernon led the scoring with 22 points to go with 15 rebounds.

Porisch scored 16 points and Lindsay finished with 15.

Carley Anderson pulled in 12 rebounds playing all 40 minutes.

On Saturday afternoon the Golden Rams had a tight battle with Hibbing who came into the game as one of the leading teams in the Northern Division.

The Golden Rams countered an off night shooting the basketball by holding Hibbing to just 35.6 percent shooting overall and forcing 15 turnovers.

Mckernon finished the game with 34 points and 15 rebounds making 12 of 21 field goals and 10 of 11 free throws.

Porisch scored 14 points and pulled in 12 rebounds.

The Golden Rams drop to 1-7 on the season.
