Women's Basketball Finishes 4th in National Tournament

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball team finished in 4th place in the NJCAA Division III National Tournament over the weekend.

In their quartefinal game, the Golden Rams upset #2 seed Northland Community and Technical College 73-71 behind a 21 of 24 performance from the free throw line and forcing 23 Northland turnovers.

Amanda Lindsay scored 18 points making 5 of 9 field goals.

Lateah Turmon finished with 16 points going 10 for 11 on free throws.

Rashonna Thomas scored 15 points.

Dariel Lipscomb contributed 12 points.

In their national semifinal game the Golden Rams led Roxbury Community College 52-51 after three quarters, but went cold in the fourth as Roxbury pulled away for a 83-71 win.

Despite the fourth quarter struggles, Anoka-Ramsey still managed to shot 50 percent from the field for the game, but went just 5 of 12 from the free throw line while Roxbury made 21 of 24 and had 19 offensive rebounds.

Alyssa Correll scored 24 points making four threes.

Lateah Turmon scored 16 points making 8 of 10 from the field.

Rashonna Thomas chipped in 15 points.

In the 3rd place game the Golden Rams faced host school Mohawk Valley and fell 77-65.

Turmon scored 17 points on 7 of 11 shooting.

Thomas scored 16 points making 4 of 10 three point attempts.

Lipscomb scored 14 points on 7 of 10 from the field.

Correll chipped in 11 points.

The Golden Rams finish the season with a 20-10 overall record.
