Women's Basketball Runs Away with Win over Ridgewater

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball team used their speed to run away from the Ridgewater College Warriors on Wednesday evening by a score of 91-63.

The Golden Rams jumped out to a 9-0 lead which they extended to 21-8 with 3:32 to play in the first quarter.

A layup from Amanda Lindsay and four straight points from Lateah Turmon pushed the lead to 27-12.

The Warriors committed seven turnovers in the quarter as Anoka-Ramsey led 27-14 after the first.

The Anoka-Ramsey lead extended to 42-22 early in the second quarter behind three-pointers from Rashonna Thomas and Alyssa Correll.

Ridgwater pulled within 44-29, but another Thomas three and a layup from Turmon gave Anoka-Ramsey a 49-29 lead at halftime.

An 8-0 run midway through the third period effectively put the game away, taking a 59-38 lead and pushing it to 67-38.

By the end of the third period the Golden Rams lead would grow to 30 points as they rolled through the fourth quarter.

Thomas finished the game scoring 34 points, the third time she has topped 30 points in the past four games.  Thomas was 13-23 from the field, including 8 of 14 from the three-point line while also getting six steals.

Turmon scored 21 points making 8 of 12 shots to go with eight rebounds and seven assists.

Correll finished with 17 points.

Lindsay scored 13 points to go with eight steals, seven rebounds, and seven assists.

The Golden Rams are now 13-6 overall, 6-0 in the MCAC Southern Division, and ranked #9 in this week's NJCAA National poll.
