The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball team used big first and third quarters to dispatch Minnesota West 88-62 on Wednesday evening in Coon Rapids.
The Golden Rams jumped out to a 12-2 lead with 6:37 left in the first quarter and extended the advantage to 31-7 before taking a 32-10 lead into the second.
Anoka-Ramsey shot a blistering 75 percent from the field (12 for 16) in the period including 4 of 5 from three-point range while holding MN West to just 4 of 16 shooting.
Minnesota West battled back in the second period and trimmed the deficit to 43-31 at halftime.
A Lateah Turmon layup, followed by consecutive threes from Alyssa Correll and Rashonna Thomas pushed the lead back up to 20 points, 58-38 with 5:29 left in the period with the lead extending to 65-38 after another Turmon layup.
Anoka-Ramsey shot 66.7 percent in the third period and held MN West to just 29.4 percent.
The Lady Jays would not threaten a comeback in the fourth period as Anoka-Ramsey rolled to their fourth straight win.
The Golden Rams finished the game shooting 54.8 percent including 10 of 19 (52.6 percent) from the three-point line.
Correll made 6 of 9 shots from beyond the arc in scoring 24 points.
Turmon finished with a double-double tallying 17 points and 12 assists.
Dariel Lipscomb also had a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.
Thomas finished with 16 points.
The Golden Rams improve to 4-0 in the MCAC Southern Division, 11-6 overall.
Anoka-Ramsey will travel to Southern Division rival Rochester Community and Technical College on January 28 for a 1:00pm game.
