Women's Basketball Team Routs FDL and CLC

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball team traveled to Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College, and Central Lakes College last weekend and came away with two big victories.

The Golden Rams dominated Fond du Lac from the outset taking a 27-7 lead after just the first quarter.

Anoka-Ramsey continued to put defensive pressue on the Thunder in the second quarter, not allowing many shot attempts and forcing numerous turnovers.

The Golden Rams led 61-13 at halftime.

The second half continued with the same story as Fond du Lac struggled to find any open space and Anoka-Ramsey capitalized on the Thunder miscues.

Anoka-Ramsey shot 56.3 percent overall and held Fond du Lac to 30.8 percent including 0 for 10 on three-pointers.

The Thunder committed 41 turnovers, 34 of which were Anoka-Ramsey steals.

Rashonna Thomas scored 24 points and had nine steals.

Kieara Hunter scored 14 points and had 13 rebounds.

Dariel Lipscomb scored 14 points on 6 of 10 shooting.

Lateah Turmon chipped in with 13 points, seven assists, and six steals.

Biftu Tula tallied 12 points making 5 of 6 from the field.

The Golden Rams traveled to Central Lakes the following afternoon and once again put on a dominating display winning 83-46.

After leading just 18-12 after the first quarter, Anoka-Ramsey began to pull away in the second primarily with offensive rebounding and free throws.  The Golden Rams pulled in six offensive boards and made seven free throws to just two for the Raiders and Anoka-Ramsey took a 42-26 lead into halftime.

Anoka-Ramsey pulled away in the third period by not allowing Central Lakes to make a single field goal in the period.  The Golden Rams outscored the Raiders 20-1 in the period.

Thomas lead all scorers with 22 points making 5 of 12 from the three-point line.

Alyssa Correll scored 21 points off the bench making 5 of 8 from long distance.

Hunter finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Anoka-Ramsey improves to 3-4 overall and will host Mesabi Range on Friday, December 9 at 5:45pm, then host Vermilion on Saturday, December 10 at 12:00pm.
