Softball Picks Up 5th Straight Win

The Anoka-Ramsey Softball team hosted Rainy River in their season home opener and came away with a 10-5 win in game one of the doubleheader. Game two was called in the second inning due to severe weather.

In the 10-5 victory, the Golden Rams took control from the start and never looked back. The team put up three runs in the bottom of the 1st on one-out walk to Mckenna Packard, followed by a base hit by Madison Segler, and a 3-run line drive home run to left by Sunny Strait.

Anoka-Ramsey continued putting up runs in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings with RBI's by Jennessa Minor, Emma Bright, and another home run by Strait. The score was 8-5 heading into the bottom of the 6th inning when the Golden Rams put the game away.

Back to back base hits by Emili Waite and Brooke Beberg set the table for a 2-out/2 RBI double by Packard and an RBI single by Segler.

The Golden Rams had three players with two hits a piece: Segler, Strait, and Beberg. Strait also picked up her 6th win of the season in the circle. She went the distance while scattering nine hits and striking out six.

Next up for the 6-3 Golden Rams is a home clash with perennial Southern Division power St. Cloud Tech on Tuesday, April 13 at 3pm and 5pm.
