Softball Routs Ridgewater in Doubleheader

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Softball team swept the Ridgewater Warriors yesterday in MCAC Southern Division play by scores of 15-1 & 19-4. Both were 5-inning games.

In Game one, the Golden Rams jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning on four consecutive hits highlighted by Bailey Zenk's league leading 11th home run of the season. Zenk also had 3 RBI's.

The offensive star of the game was freshman Brooke Harder who went 3-3 with a double and 4 runs batted in. Five other Golden Rams contributed two hits a piece; Cleopatra Nystrom, Ashley Stepaniak, Megan Iverson, Sunny Strait and Zenk.

Anoka-Ramsey pounded out 16 hits.

Zenk picked up her 7th win of the season against 4 losses only allowing three hits, one walk, while striking out three.

Game two was much of the same for Anoka-Ramsey as they jumped to another 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st with Nystrom, Stepaniak, and Iverson all squaring up the ball for line drives to get this game started.

After this, the hit parade was on.

There were many offensive stars in this game with Anna Wagner going 3-3 with 3 BRI's and a monster home run, Strait went 2-2 with a double, home run(#8 on the season) and 2 RBI's, Zenk was 3-5 hitting her 12th home run while driving in 5 runs, Iverson was 3-4 with four runs scored, 2 doubles, 2 stolen bases and 2 RBI's and Nystrom was 3-5 with a triple and 3 stolen bases.

Strait was very effective in the circle picking up her 9th win of the season. She scattered 8 hits, struck out 5 and didn't walk a batter.

The Golden Rams are now 16-15 overall and 9-3 in the MCAC Southern Division, two games out of first place. Next action for the Golden Rams is at home this weekend against MCAC Southern Division foes Riverland CC at 3pm and 5pm on Friday, May 3 and RCTC at 12pm and 2pm on Saturday, May 4.
