Golden Rams Earn Split with M|State

The Anoka-Ramsey Softball team split with M|State Fergus Falls by the scores of 5-2 (loss) and 10-0 (win) yesterday April 23 in MCAC Southern Division play.

The first game saw the Golden Rams fall behind 3-0 after the first half inning of play and never recovered. Anoka Ramsey did bounce back with a run in the bottom of the first inning courtesy of a leadoff double by Cleopatra Nystrom and an RBI single by Ashley Stepaniak. M-State scored two more runs in the top of the third inning and Anoka-Ramsey could only muster one more run the rest of the way.

There were three Golden Rams who had a multi-hit game. They were Stepaniak who had three hits, Sunny Strait and Emily Robinette who each had two hits of peace.

The second game got off to a much better start for Anoka-Ramsey as they put up seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. The seven runs were courtesy of five Golden Ram hits and also five Spartan errors.

Anoka-Ramsey proceeded to score 2 more in the bottom of the second and one more in the bottom of the fourth for the 10 - 0 victory. Bailey Zenk pitched her best game of the season getting the shut out. Bailey only gave up two hits while striking out nine.

Zenk is now 5-3 on the season. The Golden Rams were lead offensively by Megan Iverson and Anna Wagner. Both players had three hits a piece and drove in five runs between them. Nystrom also added two hits to go along with two RBIs.

Anoka-Ramsey is now 13 - 12 overall and 7-3 in the MCAC Southern Division. Next up for the Golden Rams is a non-conference home doubleheader against NJCAA D2 powerhouse DCTC. Game times are 3pm and 5pm on April 24.
