Softball Falters Against St. Cloud Tech

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Softball team dropped a pair of games to St. Cloud Technical and Community College on Friday in a battle between the top two MCAC Southern Division teams by scores of 7-3 and 15-2.

In game one, the Golden Rams fell behind 4-0 after the first inning and could never recover from this early deficit.

Twelve runners left on base and five errors were too much for the Golden Rams to overcome. Offensively the team produced 11 hits with four players getting two hits apiece. They were Cleopatra Nystrom, Breanna Stang, Lindsey Swanson and Karina Pritchard.

"The team played very hard, but you can't make mistakes against a really good team because they will make you pay, which they did", said Head Coach Dave Alto. "Also, we swung the bats well, but we just couldn't produce the timely hits when we had runners on base".

The second game saw the Golden Rams get off to a quick 2-1 lead after one inning, but those would be the final runs that the team would score in the game.

St. Cloud Tech outplayed Anoka-Ramsey in all facets of the game. The lone bright spots in the game was Mickey Guenther and Swanson each collecting two hits apiece.

The Golden Rams are now 19-12 overall and 6-2 in MCAC Southern Division play.
