Softball Runs Win Streak to 11 Games

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Softball team ran their season win-streak to 11 games with two victories over Ridgewater on April 17.

The #5 ranked Golden Rams came away with the doubleheader win by the scores of 21-3 in five-innings and 11-6.

Game one saw Anoka-Ramsey score five runs in the top of the 1st and they never looked back.

The team scored at least three runs in every inning and ended up with a season high of 22 hits.

Every starter had at least one hit for the Golden Rams, though there were a handful of performance that stood out at the plate. Cleopatra Nystrom was 4-5 with 4 runs scored and two doubles, Breanna Stang was also 4-5 with a double and 4 RBI's, Ashley Stepaniak was a perfect 3-3 scoring 3 times as well and knocking in 4 runs and Mickey Guenther scored a run in all five plate appearances while collecting 3 hits and stealing 3 bases.

Lindsey Swanson picked up her 9th win of the season striking out six and only allowing one earned run.

The second game saw the Golden Rams in control from start to finish. The team wasn't seriously threatened, but a few fielding miscues kept the game always within a few runs of each other.

For the 2nd consecutive game, every starter had at least one hit.

Cleopatra Nystrom had another stellar game in the lead-off position by going 4-4 with a double, homerun, 2 stolen bases and 2 RBI's. Lindsey Swanson also contributed with 2 hits, her 7th homerun of the season and 3RBI's.

Swanson again picked up the win in the circle by scattering 9 hits with 6 K's. Lindsey is now 10-4 on the season.

The Golden Rams are now 17-8 overall and 6-0 in MCAC Southern Division play. Next up for ARCC is a doubleheader tomorrow, April 20, against the St. Thomas JV at St. Thomas with game times at 4:00 and 5:45pm.
