Softball Takes One in Tripleheader

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Softball team, playing their second tripleheader in three days, went one for three on the day in Rosemount.

In the first game the Golden Rams defeated MCAC Northern Division opponent Hibbing Community College 20-2 in five innings.  The team tallied their most runs and hits in a single game this season.

The Golden Rams received contributions offensively up and down the lineup.  Multiple players had two or more hits and RBIs, but three players offensive production stood out for being perfect at the plate.

Leading the way was Cleopatra Nystrom who continues her hot hitting by going 5-5 at the plate with a double, two stolen bases, and four RBIs.

Bailey Zenk went 4-4 with three doubles and an RBI.  Mickey Guenther was 2-2 with three RBIs.

Zenk picked up the win from the circle, her second of the season.

The second game of the day saw Anoka-Ramsey drop a tough 4-3 loss to NJCAA DII Dakota County Tech.

Unfortunately the Golden Rams didn't execute well enough at the plate and on the bases which led to many wasted scoring opportunities.

Three times ARCC had runners on first and second with no one out and couldn't muster a run.

The team competed very hard but couldn't get enough runs across for the win. Breanna Stang led the Golden Rams at the plate by going 2-3 with two stolen bases.

Lindsey Swanson pitched her best game of the season going the distance. She struck out a season high 8 batters while only walking one. "It was great seeing Lindsey pitch such a great game" said Head Coach Dave Alto.

The final game of the day ended up being a 16-7 loss to Central Lakes College.

This was already the 3rd time these two teams have played already this season.

The game started off poorly for the Golden Rams as they gave up ten runs in the top of the first on eight hits.

Despite being in a major hole, the team battled tooth and nail to put up seven runs of their own in five innings but the ten run deficit was too much to overcome.

Karina Pritchard and Cleopatra Nystrom had two hits apiece to pace the Golden Rams at the dish.

On Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31, the team will participate in the MCAC Crossover in Rochester. Please check the schedule for opponents and game times.
